‘24 Haikus’ is a sequence of dance poems, based on the specific qualities of written haikus: delicacy, the tangibility of the moment, the resonance of simplicity. Each of these danced haikus has its own idea, rhythm, form of movement and spatial treatment. In small shifts of the choreographic structure, one haiku succeeds another as a new entity distinct from the previous one, in a process of minute changes that creates an evolving series. The musical composition accords naturally with the choreographic principle of evolving series, providing a foundation, serving as a guide and directing occasional energetic outbursts of the body.
