George De Decker

George De Decker was born in 1951 in Belgium.

He studied at the Royal Academy of Antwerp where he received first prize for piano. He studied composition with Willem Kersters André Laporte in Antwerp and Brussels. He won awards as a composer and became a professor at the Conservatory of Mechelen and the Academy of Music Asse for seventeen years.

Since 1987, he devoted himself exclusively to composition. He composed for the theater (in collaboration with companies such as "De Tijd", directed by Lucas Vandervost, and "De nieuwe International Scene"), for the dance (Bud Blumenthal, Pé Vermeersch, Roberto Olivan and Fernando Martin) and for Flemish television (series and art documentaries for television, including directors and Stefaan Decostere and Jef Cornelis). Finally, work is also broadcast on several European radio stations.

Composition Shut Up and Dye Your Shoes, for instance, was interpreted by the Flemish Radio Orchestra, accompanied by musicians who played with Frank Zappa. In November 2007, blues guitarist Roland Van Campenhout will create work for symphony orchestra, jazz trumpet and guitar blues.
